Responsibilities:
- Use a developing digital app as your primary means of communication to provide remote patient care utilizing scientifically supported therapy techniques (including texting, phone calls, and video chats).
- By concentrating on nutritional ketosis through tailored carbohydrate intake with lifestyle adjustments that emphasize sustainability, provide education and coaching to help patients execute a specific nutrition and care plan.
- Inform patients of medication adjustments and other doctor’s recommendations in a clear, timely, and efficient manner; discuss patient status changes with the Virta medical staff.
- Weight, blood ketones, blood glucose, blood pressure, side effects, energy, cravings, appetite, and mood are among the daily metrics and vitals that should be tracked and feedback is given.
- Utilize a variety of counseling strategies, including but not limited to motivational interviewing and patient-centered goal setting, to empathize, connect, and collaborate with patients to achieve personal success and sustainability.
- In the HIPAA-compliant portal provided by Virta, review and update medication information, medical history, laboratory results, and patient interactions.
- Uphold corporate principles and keep a positive team dynamic, sharing your unique knowledge with your colleagues.
- Recognize and apply fresh scientific discoveries in patient education.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in a health-related discipline, such as nutrition, dietetics, kinesiology, exercise science, nursing, social work, psychology, or a registered dietitian, registered nurse, or registered exercise physiologist, or a degree or certification that is equivalent in kind.
- Prior experience directly assisting patients in the following areas: outpatient nutrition counseling, motivational interviewing, employing various behavior modification approaches, health coaching, health counseling, mental health counseling, etc (strongly preferred)
- Outstanding writing and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to work with a variety of communication mediums. The capacity to modify communication style to accommodate various audiences, including patients, teammates, clients, and scientific professionals.
- Ability to work with many personalities throughout times of change and high EQ and empathy.
- To stay on track in situations that are changing quickly, you’ll need excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- A growth mindset means you are constantly learning and getting better.
- Strong drive to establish connections with patients and eagerness to lend a hand as a front-line healthcare professional.
